The class participated in a kickoff meeting and site visit on February 13, 2020. Our first stop was with the Town of Camp Verde and they provided the class with an overview and background of the trails project their community is working on. Afterwards we traveled to the U.S. Forest Service, Red Rock Ranger District office in Sedona to learn more from Coconino National Forest about potential trail development on their land which is adjacent to Camp Verde.
Coconino National Forest expressed that the most important thing they need is to hear from the community about what types of trails they would like to see. At the meeting students also learned more about the U.S. Forest Service. Following the kickoff meeting, the group traveled to Rezzonico Park in Camp Verde and explored a small part of the Verde River. The class also visited the site where the new Camp Verde Sports Complex will be located. The sports complex will also provided a place to park and serve as a trailhead for new trails that may be developed on Coconino National Forest. |
